We know that every company is different. Whether you have 10 employees or 10,000, we have you covered. Our staff has applied-level experience creating and managing compliance programs for companies of all sizes in the aerospace and firearms industries.
Have a question about a specific export issue? Perhaps your company does not have a dedicated full-time compliance person, and you wish to have a compliance resource on call? We are here for you. When you need advise and answers fast, call us.
Smart management knows that having an effective compliance program means more than simply having a published policy on a shelf somewhere. While employees need to know the rules and regulations, it is equally important that they understand how they apply to their jobs. We will train your employees using plain English, not legalese. Our audit services will ensure that your policies are being followed.
Provided strategic export licensing and compliance leadership to a major aerospace manufacturer when they acquired a former MIG jet factory in Eastern Europe and converted it to manufacture helicopters. Developed the supply-chain licensing strategy that involved sourcing parts and components from more than 80 suppliers in ten partner countries. Trained 300 in-country employees at the new factory.
Words do matter. Export license applications to export sensitive technology or to manufacture defense articles overseas must be explicit and concise. We have a saying that goes: “Define the box, or they will define it for you!” We know how to write effective license applications that will satisfy the U.S. government licensing authorities while preserving maximum flexibility for you.
Our track record includes a recent effort to manufacture military rifles in a major allied country. We authored the Manufacturing License Agreement for the U.S. company and assisted with preparing the requisite annual reports to the U.S. government.
We helped a medium sized manufacturer of law enforcement equipment establish a beachhead in the European marketplace by setting up a Warehouse & Distribution Agreement for them to set up a distribution point on the continent. A Warehouse and Distribution Agreement allows a U.S. company to pre-position inventory that is subject to State Department licensing in a forward location overseas, for distribution to a specified market. At the end of each year, the manufacturer must report the disposition of all items sold to the State Department. These agreements are very difficult to obtain because of the inherent compliance risks. Our client has been able to increase its European sales six-fold in a two year period since implementing their agreement.
It is sometimes necessary for a company to look outside of the U.S. to attract highly specialized personnel. In the defense industry, this can cause complications, unless you are able to obtain the required licenses to permit the foreign employee to access the technical data and hardware in your facility. We will assist you in developing an effective license application and a workable Technology Control Plan for your employee.
“You helped us expand into the international market with the confidence that we were in compliance with the laws and regulations. We are a small company and couldn't afford any missteps. Your guidance was one of the best investments we've made. Thank you for pushing us forward. We really couldn’t have done it without you.”
James Blazow, Crescent Machine & Tool
"We liked Intersec's work so much that we retained their services to help design our Anti-Bribery program - TWICE! - once for the original program, and then as it matured, to write enhancements. We are a $1 billion publicly traded company, and compliance really matters to us. Peter understands how to write policies and procedures in plain language that employees easily grasp."
FCR, Chief Compliance Officer
"I am a sole proprietor machine shop with 10 employees. We have some unique capabilities and wanted to bid on international contracts with major aerospace prime contractors. Intersec helped us to launch our international sales efforts by making sure that we were properly registered to obtain export licenses, training our employees, and being on-call for us whenever we had questions. Now, international sales account for more than 30% of our business. For the 100th time, thanks for your help! "
Thomas York, Raindown Industries
"Peter assisted us with pressure testing our export compliance program by travelling to two of our overseas sites to conduct in-person audits. What's great about Peter is that he approaches things from the perspective of a business person, not a lawyer sitting in an ivory tower. He gave us practical advice that helped us close some gaps in our program and our overseas personnel enjoyed working with him."
